My break is over ... it's again time to put up with mean-spiritedness

I have been on a self-imposed break from mean-spiritedness since August.  No Newsvine.  No Fox News.  No CNN.  No MSNBC.  No ABC, CBS, or NBC evening news.  I didn't even watch the local evening news.  And no, I didn't watch Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert.

What did I miss?  Obviously, nothing that would contribute to any health problem.

I did watch a lot of football on TV, college football in particular.  My favorite college team, the Alabama Crimson Tide, won the national championship.  Roll Tide Roll.  I also read a lot of sports boards and blogs but never commented.  Some who post on sports boards personally attack others and often use partisan politics as an unsolicited attack weapon.  I found this to be particularly true when someone would accuse another poster of being a liberal or Obama supporter.

I also watched programming from the History and Science channels.

Anyway, it's time to rejoin Newsvine.  It's again to time face friends and foes, re-regs and trolls; and participate in arguments with those who argue for the sake of argument.

Good to see you back onefan. We have not had a TV for a long time now and we enjoy every minute of our day and night without it. We still watch DVD movies and we read many books now.

I also quit going into as many seeds as I used to here. I stick with the written articles of viners mostly.

Thanks for your comment. I did miss your witty and colorful insights during my absence. I once tried going cold-turkey with TV and would hallucinate all day. I used to read at least one book a week but haven't read one in months. Reading books is a habit I must definitely reacquire.

I also won't be going into as many seeds as I used to, but will visit my friend's articles more than in the past. I look forward to the material you post. Again, thanks.

Well, welcome back. Yeah, I tend to drop out and eschew modern life in general for periods of time. I think it to be essential for mental health and well being.

Hey, Congratulations from a Bonafide Barner. The Nat Champ was assuredly an Abalamer Ass Whoopin. Those folks over in Tuscaloosa may be Evile but dang if they aren't Evile Homeboys. All In....next year....or maybe the year after....Anyhow, I'm pretty pleased the SEC is still number one and the State of Abalamer is for two years running.

I hear you talking in regard to meanness but that doesn't bother me as much as the cognitive dissonance that flows over the point of view from mainstream America like a Tsunami of myopia.

Anyhow, welcome back. Hope to see you around until I take another long break to clean my bible and read my guns. Wait a minute. I'm a Heathen. I reckon I'll clean my guns and read Hunter S Thompson instead.

    Rock on Pard

Hey, Congratulations from a Bonafide Barner

Thanks Tex. I've been a Tide fan since watching the Bear Bryant Show on the family's black and white screen TV. I also watched the Shug Jordan Show. And believe it or not, I'm an Auburn fan when the Tigers are not playing the Tide. (Obviously, to some malcontented Tide fans, this doesn't make me a real Tide fan) (:

... meanness but that doesn't bother me as much as the cognitive dissonance that flows over the point of view ...

You'll get no argument from me. If only some here on the vine would only synchronize their actions and beliefs then there probably wouldn't be as much meanness.

    LMAO at your last paragraph.

Again, thanks Tex. See you around the vine. Roll Tide and War Damn Eagle.

    Back atcha.

Yeah, I was born into the Auburn Fambly but I too root for the other fellers when they have a chance in the National Championship. Heck, I root hawg for em in every game except the Iron Bowl. We seem to be anomalies amongst SEC fans. Such is life.

Take good care. War Damn Eagle and Roll Tide. I do love the Tide's Defense. Those boys are manly men.
